Melamine tableware is tableware made of melamine moulding powder. Melamine is melamine resin, and its chemical name is melamine formaldehyde resin. So, is melamine tableware safe?

Melamine is a white powder-like chemical raw material. It is inedible and should not be used in food processing or as a food additive. Formaldehyde is a colorless gas with a pungent smell. Inhaling too much formaldehyde can cause leukemia in people. However, melamine resin made by the condensation polymerization of melamine formaldehyde can be used to make melamine dinnerware such as plates, bowls, cups, spoons and lunch boxes. It can only be put into use after passing the inspection.

NOTE:

First of all, we need to check whether the product has a label or identification. 

Do not purchase goods for which you cannot find the label identification. 

For products with labels, check if the label information is standardized Product name, 

name of the manufacturing enterprise, address of the manufacturing enterprise, material, 

production date and shelf life (storage period), conformity mark, declaration of conformity, 

contact information, terms like "for food use", QS mark and production license number. 

This type of product is included in the industrial product license management by the state 

and can only be produced and sold after obtaining a production license.

Secondly, observe the appearance and smell the odor: The surface of the tableware should be smooth and clean, without any defects such as material shortage, obvious deformation, color difference, or impurities. The decorative patterns should be aligned and clear, and the stickers should be flat and fit well without any bubbles. Smell the tableware to see if it has a pungent smell. Normally, there should be no smell or a faint plastic smell. If the smell is pungent, don't buy it.
